Description:
Wilhelmina Alexander was  the' Bonnie Lass o' Ballochmyle' who inspired Burns' poem of that title.  She was the sister of the Laird of Ballochmyle and lived on the Ballochmyle estate. She attracted the attention of Burns when he saw her wandering along the banks of the River Ayr one day.   He wrote to her but she did not reply and he never wrote again.  She died a spinster at the age of 87.
