Description:

This key was found when digging the foundations of the Castle Dykes. In 1306 Robert the Bruce captured the castle of Dumfries at Castledykes, but a month later it was back in English hands. They occupied it until 1313, when it was finally destroyed by Bruce during his fight for Scottish independence.
