Sanquhar Knitting
Glove in the Midge & Flea pattern, "MW" at wrist
- Description:
- Example of a Sanquhar pattern glove in grey and black wool to illustrate the "Midge & Flea" design. Probably one of the oldest patterns, this most closely resembles other traditional knitting of the 18th century. Its name is self-explanatory, although opinions vary on the identity of the second insect! The glove has the initials "MW" knitted into the wristband.
