This was the winner of the Robert Colquhoun Memorial Award in 1980. It was described at the time by the judging panel:
"[A] complex abstraction of winter landscape, meticulously worked out in a pictorial structure bringing together an overall unity of individual points each of whom is definate in itself [...] it goes beyond mere decoration with the auterity of the medium and the tolerance of the criss crossing strokes conveying a foreboding elegiac quality".
