Alasdair Taylor, originally from Rosshire, was a graduate of
Glasgow School of Art. He moved to Portencross on the Ayrshire
coast in 1967 where he immersed himself in his immediate
surroundings. Painting directly on to washed up boards and planks
which he found along the shoreline, he experimented with paint,
surfaces and collage to create powerful, emotional works employing
an Abstract Expressionist style. Taylor had a prolific output.
