This is a print of Millais' famous painting Autumn Leaves which he painted in 1856.  It is likely that Millais was one of the Pre-Raphaelite artists who visited Penkill, he is certainly known to have visited Scotland often. This print was part of a collection of prints and sketches that came from Penkill Castle.

 

Acquired with Assistance from the National Fund for Acquisitions administered with Government Funds by the National Museums of Scotland.
