Sir Willian Dingwall Mitchell Cotts K.B.E.

Sir Willian Dingwall Mitchell Cotts was the son of William Cotts who founded the Queensberry Forge in Sanquhar.  After a highly successful career in shipping and coal, he entered Parliament as a Liberal.  He commissioned this portrait in 1929.
