Up Your Street

Up Your Street was a contemporary craft-based exhibition that ran in The Dick Institute, Kilmarnock, during Spring 2007. The exhibition focused on eight makers for whom the creative process is inextricably linked with the environment in which they live, be it rural, urban or domestic. These makers included Caroline Dear, Sharon Elphick, Beth Legg, Janet Mason, Laura McCafferty, Gareth Neal, Dot Sim, and Donna Wilson. The pieces shown are, directly or indirectly, a reflection of the surroundings in which they were made or conceived. This exhibition is a celebration and an investigation into how the environment and the creative process affects the work of the makers.

This exhibition was curated by Katy Bevan in association with Develop Craft Ayrshire.
