Ayrshire Needlework Christening Robe (1)

19th Century

The point of the "V" on the bodice of this robe is visible indicating that it was meant for a boy. If it was cut off at the waistband, it would be a girl's robe. Often a small slit was created so that the "V" could be tucked in and the robe used for both boys and girls.
