Shield of Charles Lamb Esq. Knight of the White Rose

The Earl of Eglinton commissioned Samuel Pratt of No.47 Bond Street, London, to produce this shield and the others which would hang above the martial tents of the knights taking part in the Eglinton Tournament in 1839. Charlie Lamb was the half brother of the Earl of Eglinton and the main organiser of the event.  On the day he took part as the Knight of the White Rose. His father, Sir Charles Montelieu Lamb had the important role of Knight Marshal of the Lists.
