The Sea

This online exhibition gathers together paintings from the regions collections in which the sea features. Amongst the works selected are several which depict the coast of the south-west of Scotland but the exhibition is not exclusively made up of such paintings. Within our collections there are examples of a variety of ways in which artist feature the sea in their work: For some the sea itself is the main subject, others depict maritime adventures and others focus on those whose lives and livelihood revolve around the sea. Only a small selection of paintings are currently available for viewing, more will be added shortly.
