Great sword
The great sword, so called for its oversize hilt and blade, was
too heavy to be wielded one-handed, and required two hands on the
grip for leverage, with one hand pushing and the other pulling to
manoeuvre the sword. The weapon was slow to wield due to its size
and weight, but devastating when the target was met
This great sword has a fig shaped pommel and straight
no-nonsense quillions at either end of a large grip (leather over
twine) and a wide blade made from a flattened hexagonal section
which is over a meter long. On the blade are two etched marks,
likely maker's marks.
