Glass Plate of Kilmarnock House

After the initial popularity of the daguerreotype another process made photography a little cheaper and simpler. The Ambrotype, invented by Frederic Scott Archer in 1850 was the process of taking a wet plate negative and painting the back black so that it appeared as a positive.   Kilmarnock House was the town house of the Earl of Kilmarnock and is no longer standing
