5b. Ayrshire Needlework Stamp Process

The designs for the embroiderers to follow were stamped onto the cotton in blue ink using pattern stamps. Pictured here is a melon seed pattern stamp alongside cotton stamped with the design and another piece of cotton on which the melon seed design has been completed with thread.
