7b. Nottingham Curtain Lace Panel

Period:
20th Century
Description:
This panel was presented to Kilmarnock Football Club by Nottingham County FC in 1980 , on the occassion of the semi-finals of the Anglo-Scottish Cup Competition.

The Nottingham Curtain Lace machine was introduced to the towns of the Irvine Valley in Ayrshire in the 1870s. Ayrshire was soon competing effectively with Nottingham's lace manufacturers. Lace manufacturing is now much diminished in Ayrshire but Nottingham lace curtain machines are still being used productively in Newmilns and Darvel.
