Queen Victoria

Victoria was born 24th of May in 1819. When her uncle died, leaving no children Victoria was crowned Queen of England at the age of 18. She married Albert, son of Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha in February 1840. Queen Victoria reigned for 63 years, 7 months and 2 days. During this time Victoria would see her empire at the height of its power as she ruled over 450 million people. Victoria along with Albert worked together and organized the Great Exhibition of 1851. This exhibition showcased culture and industry, and was the first in a series of World's Fairs. Albert helped Victoria take a more constitutional role by leaving the Parliament to rule the nation and Empire. Victoria is known as the Grandmother of Europe as a result of her children marrying into almost every royal family in Europe.
