Balmoral Castle

Balmoral Castle is a large estate house in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire. It became a place of residence for members of the British Royal Family in 1852 when it was purchased by Prince Albert and Queen Victoria. The property remains the private property of the Royal Family and not of the Crown. The original building was deemed too small so they commissioned a new building, larger in size. The castle is actually a tower house, which are often referred to as castles because of their formidable construction. The royal family still visits Balmoral Castle every year.
