Highland Pastures
The Highlands refer to the part of Scotland that is north-west of
the geological Highland Boundary Fault, which runs across from
Helensburgh to Stonehaven. Pastures are parts of the land that are
used for grazing. Scotland has a truly unique breed of cattle that
can be identified by its long horns and long wavy coats that are
coloured black, brindle, red, yellow, white, silver, or dun, this
type of cattle is typically raised for its meat. Originally small
farms would keep a highland cow as a house cow to produce milk and
for its meat. Also in this postcard can see a thatched cottage.
Thatched roof was created with dry vegetation such as straw, water
reed, sedge, rushes or heather.
