Galloway peat spade

Peat spades of a particular type were used in Galloway during the 19th century.  They had a heart-shaped blade with one side turned up at right angles to form a sloping wing.  This spade was used at Markdhu, Glenwhilly and Glenluce, Wigtownshire.
