This photograph shows a group on the bank of a stream watching, as a man washes gravel from a sluice box or rocker, searching for gold.

This photograph album was compiled by H D Hewitt, January 9th 1938.  The group of people pictured are of a learned society, probably a geology group - who spent their time on field excursions to local places of geological significance.
