Bonnet making

Military cap (1)

Description:
In 1739 independent companies were raised to perform policing duties in the highlands.  Although the men wore red coats, the rest of their uniform was highland dress, and included a bonnet.  The cap spread to the British army where the headband deepened and acquired a diced pattern.
