Ladies white kid leather gloves

Description:

Pair of ladies white kid leather gloves, worn around the 1930s. Leather gloves have been worn by people for thousands of years, as they allow for a comfortable fit and good grip for the wearer. Since the 14th century, gloves have been a popular fashion choice for all genders, but particularly for women. In the Victorian and Edwardian era, the material and fit of gloves denote social status in the public realm, and they became important objects that hinted towards the wearer's wealth. Gloves began to be less popular as a result of WWI and WWII, when they were seen as an unnecessary luxury. In the 1950s, they were again embraced as a feminine accessory, only for trends to again sway to their diminshing popularity.

Nowadays, gloves are uncommon for everyday wear, and people only tend to wear gloves in cold weather rather than all year round as a fashion accessory.
