Stranraer Burgh Police truncheon

Description:
Hand painted police truncheon.  Each truncheon was unique to its owner and was used as an identifier before the warrant card came into being.  This truncheon is marked VR for the reigning monarch, Queen Victoria and bears the Stranraer Burgh insignia, as well as the owner's unique number.
