Pewters Measure

A small, pewter measure. These were often stamped to verify that they were a correct legal quantity, or "standard".   Pewter was a cheaper alternative to oher metals but was still used by wealthy households. Poorer people would have used even cheaper alternatives such as horn or wood. Pewter cups, jugs and tankards would have been found in a variety of homes.
