The Housewife's Darling - an early washing machine

This early washing machine was called ‘The Housewife’s Darling’. It is of wood and metal with a metal paddle inside the lid. The paddle was rotated by hand to agitate the contents. The water was brought in and taken away by a metal pipe at the rear.
