Sanquhar pattern gloves, worn for curling, Dumfries

Description:

These were knitted in the 1950s for Mrs Marjorie MacDonald of Dumfries in colours chosen to match her outfits.  The darning on the fingers and palms shows that they were well used.  Mrs Aitken knitted the gloves for 5 shillings a pair.
