model of 'The Countess of Galloway'

A model of the paddle steamer 'Countess of Galloway'.  Owned by the Galloway Steam Navigation Company she operated between Wigtown, Garlieston, Kirkcudbright and Liverpool in the period 1847-79.   The 'Countess of Galloway' could carry 200 cattle and several hundred sheep.  She was broken up in 1880.   This is one of a number of local ship models made in the 1960s by Reg Collinson of Sorn, Ayrshire.
