Slave Plantation Account Book

Description:

This slave plantation account book was found in an attic in Balmaclellan. It records that several people had employed the Task Gang between 15 February 1774 and 15 June 1776, including John Hamilton. Peter Black had purchased £161 worth of iron etc and the smith had undertaken work valued at £160. Griffin, a negro man, had been sold for £42.

 

Research continues in an attempt to identify the name, location and owners of this plantation.
