The First Bicycle

Model of Kirkpartick MacMillans' velocipede made by J G Jeffs.  Jeffs made the model of this bicycle for display in Dumfries Museum.   Transcription:   The First Bicycle, Invented and Construcetd by Kirkpatrick MacMillan (Blacksmith), Courthill, Keir, 1839. This was the first two-wheeled vehicle, propelled and steered with both feet of the ground, and was ridden to Glasgow, on June 8th 1842.
