Letter from Charles Dickens

This letter was written by another great literary figure who admired the work of Robert Burns - Charles Dickens.     Born Charles John Huffam Dickens on the 7th of February 1812, Dickens remains the quintessential English novelist of the Victorian era.  As well as becoming one of the most important writers of all time Dickens was a  vigorous social campaigner, and it was probably the social conscience that Burns displayed which appealed to him most, however both writers created memorable characters and used humour to good effect within rich depictions of contemporary life.   The popularity of Dickens' novels and short stories has meant that none have ever gone out of print.
