This photograph is of the ceremony for the unveiling of Robert Burns Memorial Statue in Greyfriars Square, 6th April 1882.  A massive crowd is gathered in the square outside Greyfriars Church to witness the unveiling of the statue to Burns, by Lord Rosebery.  The wooden platform in the centre for dignitarys is bedecked in flags.
