Description:

"Highland Mary", or Mary Campbell, was one of Robert Burns's great loves.  She inspired the poems "The Highland Lassie O" and "Will ye go to the Indies, My Mary".

 

This sepia print of "Highland Mary" is from a photograph album presented to the Kings Arms Hotel by local businesses in Dumfries and Maxwelltown.  The businesses placed advertisements in the album.
