The Poetical Works of Robert Burns; with his life, by Robert Burns, in 2 volumes. Alnwick: Printed by Catnach and Davison. 1808. Sold by booksellers in England, Scotland, and Ireland."Ornamented with engravings on Wood by Mr. Bewick, from Original designs by Mr Thurston."


Binding: brown marbled paper and green leather on board; gold decoration on the spines; title, author, volume, place and date in gold on the spines; contrast leather on the spines; purple wove end-papers; cream wove paper.


Marks: Embossed "Burns Monument Kilmarnock", on title pages of both volumes. James McKie private library numbers "139" & "140".


Illustrations: Woodcuts throughout both volumes by Thomas Bewick, both vignettes and full-page images.
