Cremated human bone, Craigbirnoch

Description:

Cremated human bone and teeth.  The cremation was buried in a stone cist grave together with a decorated pot known as a 'food vessel'.  Some fragments of the pot remain.

 

The cist was discovered accidentally in 1914 when a stone cairn was being removed for road-making.  The burial was excavated by Rev R G S Anderson in 1916.
