Cinquedea

This kind of highly decorated sword was carried with civilian dress and was known as a cinquedea.  They were popularly carried by noblemen in the Italian city states around the 16th century. Cinquedea means 'five fingers', so called due to the broad shape of the blade next to the crossguard. The typical characteristics of a cinquedea is its a small pommel, dropping crossguard, and multiple fullers along its blade to lighten its weight.
