Roman water jar

If you look closely at this fat bodied stoneware water jug, you can see the potter's thumbprints at the handle join. This water jug was found at the Antonine Wall, which was built by invading Romans to represent the northernmost frontier of the Roman Empire. The Antonine Wall spanned around 39 miles between the Firth of Forth and the Firth of Clyde.
