Sugar Cane

According to the label on this piece of sugar cane it was brought to Scotland by Andrew McNeith, aged 12.  It states that he travelled from the West Indies to London unaccompanied but under the care of the ship's Captain.  From London he travelled to Glasgow by train and underwent education on arrival in Scotland.
