Gatehouse Halfpenny

Copper trade token produced by Thomas Scott and Company, Gatehouse-of-Fleet. Thomas Scott & Co was an Ulster firm which operated one of the four cotton mills in Gatehouse. This is the only trade token issued in south-west Scotland - the obverse shows Scott's three storey mill.
