Martyrs' Stone

 Part of a memorial stone. Many stones such as this were placed around south west Scotland marking the places where Covenanters were martyred. The original text read:  HeRe . LyeS . IOSePH WILSON . IOHN IAMI SON . AND IOHN WM PHRY . WHO WAS SHOT . IN THIS . PLACE BY . A. PARTy . OF HIGHL ANDeRS . FOR THeIR . ADHeRENCe TO . THE . WORD . OF GOD . AND THe . COV eNANTeD .
