The Battle of Trafalgar

East Ayrshire Council was recently chosen as temporary custodians of the painting ?The Battle of Trafalgar?, painted in 1824 (19 years after the battle itself) by Cumnock-born artist John Wilson. The work was accepted by the Government in lieu of taxes and so now belongs to the Nation, and until a final home is found the Baird has the honour of displaying it due to its local connections.
