Winter activities at Dumfries Museum

The Absent King

Presentations start at 10.30am, 11.30am and 2pm

Murder, intrigue, battles, endeavour and more than a few giggles...
Learn about the life and times of Robert the Bruce from Sir Hugo, Scotland’s bravest knight.

An entertaining 30 minute presentation about the events of 1306 and life in the time of Robert the Bruce. Lots of fun audience participation will be involved! This will be followed by an opportunity to design and make a crown fit for a Scottish king.

Free drop in activities. Children should be accompanied by an adult

Frost Dragons and Christmas Wishes

Free drop in activities from 10am to 12 noon and 2pm to 4pm each day.
Children should be accompanied by an adult.

Dumfries Museum is preparing for a visit by a friend of Devourgilla, the Dumfries dragon. A friendly frost dragon is expected to arrive in December and to help him feel at home, drop in to the museum and make winter inspired Christmas decorations – snow balls, icicle borders, snowflakes, snowmen, stars and more – a selection of different activities will be available each day.

The frost dragon has come to visit his friend Devourgilla the Dumfries dragon in the museum. This friendly dragon is looking forward to Christmas and along with the Fairy Godmother would like to hear your wishes for Christmas. He will also show you how to make “frosty window” Christmas cards.
