A Taste of Spring Fling at Stranraer Museum

Spring Fling is an annual event which highlights the remarkable range of arts and crafts produced in Dumfries and Galloway. This year Spring Fling will see over 80 participants across the region open their studios to the public over the weekend of 29-31 May. It is an opportunity to buy direct from an artist, watch your favourite maker at work or have a great day out hopping from studio to studio.

Visitors to Stranraer Museum can now enjoy the Spring Fling taster exhibition. Over 60 of this year’s participants have work on show. The display includes paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and jewellery. Among the local artists and makers are Kay Ribbens from Mochrum Park, Hope London from Bladnoch, Lisa Hooper from Port William, Jan Holak and Colin Macleod from Stranraer, Pamela Spencer from Portpatrick , Andy Priestman from Bargrennan, Stewart Lammie from Minnigaff and T A S Gibson and Claire and Ian Cameron-Smith from Knowe.

Kay Ribbens, local textile artist and Spring Fling committee member said, “It is absolutely marvellous for Spring Fling participants to be seen in Stranraer Museum. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our studios during the Spring Fling weekend at the end of May”.

Spring Fling brochures are available at local museums, libraries and tourist information centres. The Spring Fling Taster exhibition will be at Stranraer Museum from 24 April to 15 May. Admission is free.
